If you think the Earth is hot now, try wearing plate armor in the Middle Ages.
A Swedish study found that the planet was warmer in ancient Roman times and the Middle Ages than today, challenging the mainstream idea that man-made greenhouse gas emissions are the main drivers of global warming (Challenging? If the study is correct and I have read several historical accounts of it being warm in these periods, it totally debunks man-made global warming as predicated today!—my addition).
The study, by scientist Leif Kullman, analyzed 455 ‘radiocarbon-dated mega-fossils’ in the Scandes mountains and found that tree lines for different species of trees were higher during the Roman and Medieval times than they are today. Not only that, but the temperatures were higher as well.
‘Historical tree line positions are viewed in relation to early 21st century equivalents, and indicate that tree line elevations attained during the past century and in association with modern climate warming are highly unusual, but not unique, phenomena from the perspective of the past 4,800 years (The warmer the temperatures, the farther north and higher elevations the tree lines would be!—my addition), Kullman found. ‘Prior to that, the pine tree line (and summer temperatures) was consistently higher than present, as it was also during the Roman and Medieval periods.’
Kullman also wrote that ‘summer temperatures during the early Holocene thermal optimum may have been 2.3°C higher than present.’ The ‘Holocene thermal optimum was a warm period that occurred between 9,000 and 5,000 years ago. This warm period was followed by a gradual cooling period.’
According to Kullman, the temperature spikes were during the Roman and Medieval warming periods ‘were succeeded by a distinct tree line/temperature dip, broadly corresponding to the Little Ice Age (Which is also a historically recorded event which somehow is always ignored by the man-made global warming alarmists! Or maybe, they are just ignorant of history! Or, think we are!—my addition).’
For many years now, there was an alleged scientific consensus that the Earth was warming due to humans releasing greenhouse gases into the air (There was NEVER a consensus and consensus does not necessarily equal scientific fact! There were a lot of liars and a lot of manipulation of data!—my addition)—primarily through burning fossil fuels. However, temperatures stopped rising after 1998, leaving scientists scrambling to find an explanation to the hiatus in warming.
Increasingly, scientists are looking away from human causes and looking at solar activity and natural climate variability for explanations of why the planet warms and cools (In other words, GOD created causes which HE established when he created all things. You do not actually believe that this marvelous, wonderful, gigantic, complicated universe occurred by chance do you?—my addition).
‘All other things being equal, adding more greenhouse gases to the atmosphere will have a warming effect on the planet,’ Judith Curry, a climatologist at the Georgia Institute of Technology, told the Los Angeles Times. ‘However, all things are never equal, and what we are seeing is natural climate variability dominating over human impact (Of course, GOD does not make mistakes when he builds things!—my addition).’
The Kullman study points to mounting evidence that climate is largely out of human control (My use of red. DUH! It is extreme arrogance for man to think otherwise!—my addition), as humans were not burning large amounts fossil fuels during Roman and Medieval times.
Some scientists have pointed to solar activity as the predictor of where global temperatures are headed. Researchers have pointed to falling sunspot activity as evidence that the planet will cool off in the coming decades.
‘By looking back at certain isotopes in ice cores, [Professor Mike Lockwood of Reading University] has been able to determine how active the sun has been over thousands of years,’ the BBC reports. ‘Following analysis of the data, Professor Lockwood believes solar activity is now falling more rapidly than at any time in the last 10,000 years (Not good news if you like warm weather as I do!—my addition).’
Others have looked to natural climate systems for explanations for answers to the 15-year pause in global warming.
A study by Dr. Roy Spencer from the University of Alabama, Huntsville found that about half the warming that occurred since the 1970s can be attributed to El Niño weather events, which had a warming effect on the planet.
The Pacific Ocean’s natural warming and cooling cycles last about 30 years, with La Niña cooling being dominant from the 1950s to the 1970s and El Niño warming events dominating late 1970s to the late 1990s. Spencer suggests that the world may be in a La Niña cooling period (More bad news for us warmers!—my addition).”

The possibility that global warming might contribute to Arctic development isn’t anything new. America’s first European visitors, the Vikings, were able to reach and colonize the northernmost reaches of the continent due to the lack of sea ice covering the Arctic Ocean during Medieval times when the earth was going through a warming period (Obviously not man-made!—my addition).
The Viking era came well before the Industrial Revolution—when humans began burning large amounts of fossil fuels which some scientists say (Claim! And claim wrongly!—my addition) causes global warming—and suggests that there are strong natural climate forces that have a profound effect on the extent of Arctic sea ice coverage. However, this is not a new theory—it was discussed as far back as the 19th century.
According to an 1887 newspaper article entitled ‘Variations in Climate,’ Scandinavian Vikings were able to sail through the Arctic Ocean and establish colonies in the ‘highest north latitude’ of Greenland and North America centuries before the arrival of Christopher Columbus. These colonies, however, were abandoned by the Vikings due to ‘the increasing cold (The “Little Ice Age!” Remember your early American history? Early explorers were looking for a northern route to the Pacific! Why would they think it was a possibility unless there were earlier claims of such a passage—rumors from the Viking period?—my addition).’
‘On the contrary, the formation of ice increases annually if the winters are strongly cold, long and dark,’ wrote Alexander Beck in 1887. ‘The reverse of that state of things is found by calculations for the year 1122 A.D., and it is precisely at that time we find the Danes and other Scandinavian nations going through the Arctic open seas.’
‘Colonies are established by them in the highest north latitude of Greenland, and the upper part of North America, a long time before Christopher Columbus had reached a more southern part of the same continent,’ Beck added. ‘But those colonies were relinquished on account of the increasing cold. In the fourteenth century the seas are found again closed, even in the summer. The great north icefield … increases daily, the Arctic colonists are compelled to come more to the south, and the cold takes possession again of countries which were kept free for a few years just about the twelfth century.’
‘Remains of those upper Arctic villages are found, I may say, in each Arctic expedition. The climate of Iceland becoming more and more cool also proves that the state of the earth varies in the course of centuries (Warmer, cooler cycles!—my addition),’ Beck continued.
The warm climate that defined the Middle Ages and allowed the Vikings to settle the most northern reaches of the Americas is known as the ‘Medieval Warming Period,’ which lasted from the 9th century A.D. to the 13th Century A.D. During this time temperatures were warmer in the Northern Hemisphere than the so-called ‘Little Ice Age’ that followed, according to the National Climate Data Center.
The ‘Little Ice Age’ that followed the warmer Medieval period lasted from the 14th century A.D. to the late 19th Century A.D. Some scientists argue that this period coincided with low sunspot activity which cooled the climate substantially during this time period. Others say that it had to due with natural climate variations caused by the Atlantic Ocean.
Recently, German scientists have argued that two naturally occurring cycles will combine to lower global temperatures to levels corresponding with the ‘Little Ice Age’ of 1870. According to scientists declining solar activity and the 65-year Atlantic and Pacific Ocean oscillation cycle will cause the earth to cool during this century (So much for man-made global warming, if true!—my addition).
‘Due to the de Vries cycle, the global temperature will drop until 2100 to a value corresponding to the ‘little ice age’ of 1870 (I will not be around and I’m glad! I prefer warmth over cold!—my addition),’ write German scientists Horst-Joachim Luedecke and Carl-Otto Weiss of the European Institute for Climate and Energy.”
Here is all you need to know about the whole concept of man-made global warming.
