Strangely enough, though, Common Core isn’t quite good enough for Gates and his wife, Melinda, when it comes to the education of their own three children.

Diane Ravitch, a self-styled education policy iconoclast who tends to oppose Common Core (and charter schools, and much else), noted this irony on her blog earlier this week.

The children of Bill and Melinda Gates—Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe—have attended Lakeside School, Seattle’s most elite, fancypants private school. (And there is nothing wrong with that. As a parent, he may send his children to public school, to a private school, or home school them!—my addition)

The hallowed halls of Lakeside School are a sweet place to attend classes if you have the means.

According to a Seattle education blog, the student-teacher ratio is 9 to 1. The average class size is 16. Some two dozen varsity sports are available and the opulent athletic facilities include ‘hydrotherapy spas.’

Of course, what with tuition for the 2013-14 academic year costing $28,500 per kid (not including books, laptop, field trips, etc.), most families don’t have the means.

Lakeside’s website doesn’t appear to discuss Common Core much.

‘The mission of Lakeside School is to develop in intellectually capable young people the creative minds, healthy bodies, and ethical spirits needed to contribute wisdom, compassion, and leadership to a global society,’ reads the school’s mission statement. ‘We provide a rigorous and dynamic academic program through which effective educators lead students to take responsibility for learning.’

A sub-mission statement talks about ‘interacting compassionately, ethically, and successfully with diverse peoples and cultures (The typical Leftist drivel!—my addition).’

A 2011 webpage from Lakeside School does discuss how Lakeside has sort-of-kind-of used Common Core’s relatively obscure science component as a framework. The page notes, however, that Lakeside students are ‘generally more advanced than average’ and won’t be subject to any of the standardized testing which the hoi polloi in public schools will undergo.

Like his children, Gates also attended Lakeside before going off to—and then dropping out of—Harvard University.”

Bill Gates, as far as I know, has done nothing wrong in this area. This is typical of the wealthy. Claim to support public education while sending their children to private schools which they certainly are allowed to do! This is America. Their position though is clear, what is good for the general public is not good enough for their children. President Barack Hussein Obama was supported twice by the national education unions. He sends his children to an expensive private school. Go figure! Why do we allow them to determine how our schools are run?

This time, Morano was asked to comment on ‘Earth Hour,’ a time when some environmental groups want all of us to turn off the lights and, as Morano says, ‘celebrate the darkness (Makes sense doesn’t it? Go back to a time when we used candles for night light! Right!—my addition).’

Morano explained to Levant that the Obama Administration ‘wants to make affordable energy, more expensive (And he has!—my addition),’ and they are taking significant action to ensure that energy costs continue to soar. Some excerpts from his comments:

‘They are banning coal plants. One of the most moral [energy] choices we have is coal fired power in the world today. 50% of our electricity in U.S. is from coal. It lowers infant mortality, extends live expectancy, brings modern dentistry, modern hospitals.’

‘Both solar and wind have competed with fossil based fuels and they had their (slang deleted—my addition) kicked and no amount of subsidies or mandates is going change that. It is certainly is not going to happen with the government picking winners and losers through the political process (That is for sure! All one has to do is look at the negative results for the last five years! Let competition determine the winners and losers! It will not be wind and solar energy! It is a ridiculous concept to revert back to wind! As for solar, try it some winter day in Michigan! Use that which is most cost efficient without massive regulation and control!—my addition).”

‘When 1.6 billion people don’t have running water or electricity, you don’t look to put solar panels on their huts made of dung—you try to bring them carbon based energy.’

“Code of Federal Regulations Expanding under Obama

The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) contains all of the permanent rules published by federal agencies in the Federal Register. Since 1975, the number of pages in the CFR has increased 146 percent, says Wayne Crews, vice president for policy and director of technology studies at the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

The CFR is different from the Federal Register, which contains material in addition to final rules (and contains more than 70,000 pages of material each year). There are 50 titles in the CFR, and its page count has only grown over the years, especially under President Obama.


· In 1960, the CFR had 22,877 pages across 68 volumes. At the end of 1976, it consisted of 133 volumes and 71,224 pages.


· At the end of President George W. Bush’s second term in 2008, the number of pages in the CFR stood at 157,974.


· But at the end of 2013, the CFR had 175,496 pages—a 146 percent increase since 1975 (Which means over time, we have become more and more top heavy contrary to the Constitution and MORE and MORE OVER regulated! It was never the intent of the Constitution writers to elevate the federal government to the pinnacle of power! Rather, limited power through limited authority!—my addition).


· In his first five years in office, President Obama has added 17,522 pages of regulations—that’s an 11 percent increase in the size of the regulatory state and an average of 3,504 pages each year. President Bush’s total eight years in office, on the other hand, resulted in a total of 2,490 pages each year (Almost a 141% increase from President Bush’s average per year!—my addition).

While page counts are not a perfect way to gauge regulatory impact, it is clear that the greater government activity has hurt the private sector and employment (Without question! We are over regulated by the federal government and much of that regulation, if not most of that regulation, is unconstitutional!—my addition).

Many in the faith-based community are already proclaiming a refusal to spend money on Hollywood’s Noah over stated inaccuracies and focus on parts of the story that depict Noah in a negative way instead of the good. Another segment of movie goers are upset the movie apparently has heavy environmental overtones.

The latest news coming from early reviewers is certain to ruffle even more feathers as the movie plans for a national launch in the states. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie doesn’t mention God.

‘Already banned in some Middle Eastern countries, Noah will rile some for the complete omission of the name ‘God’ from the dialogue, others for its numerous dramatic fabrications and still more for its heavy-handed ecological doomsday messages, which unmistakably mark it as a product of its time (Why would it be banned in some Middle Eastern countries? Perhaps because Noah is seen as being Jewish and the only family worthy to be saved? However, Noah is not identified as Jewish. Jewish comes through the line of Abraham!—my addition).’

Why Hollywood would omit the word God from a story about God is beyond me.

Easy, they do not believe in GOD!

The story of Noah begins in Genesis 6. Genesis 6: 5-22 (NIV)

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said, ‘I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.’ But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

Noah and the Flood

This is the account of Noah and his family.

Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.

Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. In this chapter, 01) GOD created, 02) saw that man was corrupt, 03) declares he is going to destroy man, 04) declares that he will save Noah and his family, 05) found that Noah was righteous, 06) God establishes a covenant with Noah, and 07) Noah is obedient to GOD!

And there is no reference to GOD throughout the entire movie?

Ah, the White House petition page, once a gesture of federal transparency, now a dumping ground for I Can Haz Wacky Political Hobgoblin.

To that point, a petition to have Alaska secede from the United States and join Russia has garnered 21,000 signatures in four days, rapidly outpacing every other petition on We The People’s landing page.

The petition, which may or may not be a joke, lists its millennia-old reasonings and demands in various sentence fragments:

The White House raised its petition response threshold from 25,000 signatures to 100,000, after the initial number was letting anybody and their brother in. The page remains a popular spot for secessionist movements.

In your daily dose of historical irony, Russia originally rented Alaska to the United States to help offload vulnerable territory and shore up its lagging economy after, wait for it, the original Crimean War.

Do these petitioners not know history? Look up “Seward’s Folly!” The United States bought Alaska from Russia. They would have to buy it back. I don’t think Russia could afford the cost. Is this a scheme to remove a red State? Or is this a slap at President Obama for his incompetence in handling Russia’s recent annexation of territory not theirs? Or something else entirely?

(KMOV)—A mother trying to pick her special needs son up from school winds up in handcuffs and puts the school on lockdown.

The furious mother came to News 4 claiming the school handled things all wrong.

The incident took place at Walnut Groves Elementary School on Thursday when the mother came to help her son.

‘I was lying in bed when I received a frantic phone call from the teacher, Michael was panicking,’ said Niakea Williams (Note: The school called the mother! Was she asked to come to the school?—my addition).

Michael is Williams’ son and he suffers from Asperger’s syndrome.

After getting the call, Williams came up the Ferguson-Florissant school where she was buzzed in by school officials (Note: She was let into the school! Did the school personal know who was being let in and why?—my addition).

‘I saw a teacher and she said Ms. Williams what is wrong? I said something is wrong with Mikey and proceeded to go straight to my son (Now, that was her fault. Obviously, she should known the system and should known she is required to sign in. That is pretty standard these days I would think. Particularly if she had to be buzzed in!—my addition),’ said Williams.

She got to her son’s classroom and immediately started to console him. Then the school principal informed her she was violated school policy by not signing in.

‘I didn’t sign the book, but I had to check on my son. You can bring me the book, She said oh no, I’ve already called the police (This seems to indicate this has more of a background than what is being given in this account!—my addition). You called what,’ said Williams.

Calverton Park Police responded to the call that came out as an ‘unauthorized entry to a school.’ The school was also put on a 12-minute lockdown and a letter was sent home to parents.

‘They escorted me away from my son, who already has emotional distress. Four officers told me to turn around and put my hands behind my back, I was under arrest,’ said Williams.

She was taken to the police station on trespassing charges but Williams said she is a known parent (That does not mean that she was not trespassing!—my addition). In fact, she met with the principal on Wednesday about a separate issue (Which may be a root cause for what happened on that day?—my addition).

She felt her arrest was unnecessary (Felt? Does feeling it make it so?—my addition).

When asked if there needs to be discretion used, Williams said, Yes, I feel like today I got arrested for being a concerned parent of my child.”

The reporting here only gives one side of the issue? If accurate without a related history, she should not have been arrested. The police should not have been called unless the policy gives no discretion to the principal. If that is true, it is then the fault of the Board! I believe more information needs to be given before those not directly involved can make a valid judgment.

Which leads to one of my favorite Sherlock Holmes quotes and to something that is drastically lacking in our society today, I think. If we had followed the quote before voting, I have no doubt Barack Hussein Obama would not be President today.

And good their lives have been. The reality show stars also have their own platinum Christmas album, books on the New York Times bestseller list and now Korie and Willie have made it to the big screen with a cameo in the upcoming film ‘God’s Not Dead.’(And all that would be meaningless if they were not Christians!—my addition)

The secret to their success? Recognizing that God comes first and that the fame could go away at any second.

‘God's blessed us with a lot of opportunities at this point,’ Willie told FOX411. ‘Just like the movie ‘God’s Not Dead,’ there’s that element of faith that you have to have faith.’

In the upcoming film, Willie and Korie play themselves in a scene where they are bombarded outside of church by a reporter who questions their faith, asking them how they feel about people who say they are offended by the prayer scenes on the A&E show (Why would people be offended by prayer? Are they required to watch the show?—my addition).

‘We’re not trying to offend anybody,’ Willie states in the film. ‘As far as my praying to Jesus, my life and my whole eternity belongs to God. The money, fame, success, temporary. Even life is temporary. Jesus, that’s eternal (Yes, HE is!—my addition).’

Willie and Korie said the scene rang true to them, as the Robertson family is used to having to defend their faith.

‘I think in our every day lives there’s always this opportunity to explain your faith to people who are not believers and people want to know how you live your life,’ Willie said.

But the couple said that while many may look down on their strong beliefs and Christian values, they aren’t backing down anytime soon (I would hope not!—my addition).

‘Well I guess [‘Duck Dynasty] is the most watched reality show in the history of cable so if that comes along with being religious that’s fine,’ explained Willie. ‘Maybe other people should try and start making shows like that.’

And while the Robertsons stand firm in their faith, they aren’t trying to be pushy when it comes to their faith.

‘We don’t feel like we’re shoving any religion down anyone’s throats,’ Willie said. ‘We’re just being ourselves, it’s positive. To us, just saying a prayer at the end [has had] a huge impact, but in our lives saying a prayer’s not that big a deal. We do that all the time (GOD does not force anyone to be a Christian. It is a free will choice! It is the most important choice everyone of us will ever make!—my addition).’

God is a top priority for the Robertsons now, but faith is not something that always came naturally to them (True for all of us! GOD gives all of us the ability to have faith but we must develop it! GOD does not force faith upon us!—my addition).

‘In our own lives, we were at all different stages [in our faith],’ Willie revealed. ‘My father didn’t come to the Lord until he was in his late 20s. It’s not like a cake mix where you can just put it all together and it’ll turn out perfectly. You got to let God do the work.’

So what’s next for the Robertsons?

‘Well, we’re probably going to buy an island somewhere, that’s our next plan,’ Willie jokingly told FOX411 (Was it a joke?—my addition).

But they aren’t pouring themselves margaritas on the beach just yet. They still have a message of faith in God to share with their fans.

‘Don’t let someone bully you into not standing up for your beliefs (Are all beliefs equal? I have a feeling this may have been edited or taken out of context. Would reporters do that? Yes!—my addition),’ Korie said.

What does it mean to be the great American melting pot? Does it mean anything anymore? In previous generations, people came from far and wide to this country, and they came not only for a better life but to BE an American, all that seems to be lost as ‘diversity’ rules the day (Has anyone ever actually defined what is meant by diversity in the political, social sense? Has anyone ever given the benefits of diversity? When I was in school, it wasn’t even a concept. When I taught school, it wasn’t even a concept. It is another fraud perpetrated upon the American people by the Left!—my addition). At one school, a principal wanted all students to speak English on campus. The move got her fired.merican. Now

Back in January, the Houston Chronicle reported that Hempstead Middle School Principal Amy Lacy was put on paid leave by the school trustees. Why? Because she announced on the PA system that all students would need to speak English while in class. The school district is 54% Hispanic (The real question here is did she have the authority to do this WITHOUT the approval of the governing board? This may very well be an issue under the jurisdiction of the Board! That would change the equation! If I was on the Board and she did this without authority, I would react too! It may be more about how she did it than what she did! She is NOT the Board!—my addition).

Now the trustees have voted again, and this week they decided that Lacy’s contract would not be renewed. In other words, she’s been fired (No! There is a difference. The result is the same. She lost her position. Nevertheless, there is a difference. There may have been other issues. And because of privacy rights—hers not the Board’s—one may never know the whole story!—my addition).

Channel 2 News in Houston posted a statement from the Hempstead ISD which reads:

‘As always, it is our mission at Hempstead ISD to ensure that our students enjoy a safe and secure learning environment. Our students are our number one priority and we are creating a culture of excellence at Hempstead by giving our students the best customer service possible. We have high expectations for our students and we hold our administrators, teachers and support staff to high expectations and standards as well. We value the cultural diversity of our school and we embrace each and every student of all cultural and diverse backgrounds. The district is committed to efficiently and effectively moving forward in educating our students with as little disruption to their learning environment as possible.’

My eyes just glaze over when I read things like we ‘value the cultural diversity of our school’ and blah, blah, blah. The idea of a school is to educate! It’s to prepare students for life in America. And speaking of cultural diversity, about the only culture that’s not embraced these days is the American culture.

The best thing this school or any school could do for students is to get them speaking English as soon as possible. Study after study has shown that immersion into English is much more effective than a drawn-out bilingual program. And yet, here we are ... more concerned about not offending someone than actually doing what’s best for the kids.

What do you think? Did the principal go too far (She did if she took authority she did not have! She IS NOT the governing board! Just as President Obama has gone too far by rewriting laws passed by Congress, ignoring laws passed by Congress, and actually refusing to defend laws passed by Congress! Do you think the author would agree with me in relation to President Obama? You can not pick and choose when an authority figure can go beyond the authority that person has. If she violated her authority, then she is just as guilty as the President whether or not you agree with what she did in the specific instance!—my addition)?”

“Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Florida, is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.

At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following ‘Current Communist Goals,’ which she identifies as an excerpt from ‘The Naked Communist,’ by Cleon Skousen:

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS
1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

[The above basically deals with international aspects recognizing at the time that U.S. communists were promoting Soviet Union/Chinese style communism. Of historical note but mostly past tense except for the U.N. I’m more interested in the aspects which deal specifically with actions within the United States particularly as related to culture and the degradation of a moral society. Read and compare what they wanted in 1963 and how it is today within the United States—my addition]

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. [Captured the Democrat Party in total by early 1990s?—my addition]
