Gun Used to Kill Home Invader. The Dead Man Is the Mayor’s Son

“Texas mayor’s son killed committing home invasion

The estranged adult son of Mayor Rob Franke of Cedar Hills, Texas was just shot to death Christmas Eve while committing a home invasion:

‘A Cedar Hill homeowner fatally shot an intruder who broke into his home shortly before midnight Christmas Eve, authorities say.

Joshua Slaven, 31, was pronounced dead at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Dallas County medical examiner.

The city of Cedar Hill’s website identifies Slaven as the son of Mayor Rob Franke.

The homeowner, Gareth Long, was questioned by police but not arrested. The standard practice is to refer such cases to a grand jury, which is likely to decline to indict Long under the state’s castle doctrine.

‘It’s very unfortunate that Mr. Long was forced into a position of having to defend himself, his wife and his home from a nighttime intruder,’ said Chris Knox, Long’s attorney. ‘Nobody ever asks to be placed in such a life-threatening position, but Mr. Long’s actions were absolutely justified and completely protected under Texas law (If true as reported, justified. And as it should be! No one has the right to break into another persons home. [Or, for that matter, another persons country!] Every person should have and in Texas does have the right to protect himself and his family from people intent to commit crimes against the family. There are too many stories of harm being inflicted upon the innocent by criminals intent to do harm. Obviously, this was not a gun free zone! Nor should it be! The only thing gun free zones do is give an open invitation to those intent on doing harm. In todays society, I would never send my children to a school that advertises it was a gun free zone!—my addition).’

The story is tragic for Mr. Long who apparently gave Slaven multiple warnings before finally firing to defend his family (For most people, it is not and should not be easy to kill another human—my addition).’

The story is tragic for Mayor Franke as well, obviously, and sadly, it isn’t his first close encounter with gun deaths in recent years. Franke loaned a gun to a fellow Texas mayor in 2010, who then used it to murder her daughter and commit suicide. (This I can not understand! Not now! I hope not ever! MURDERING you own child whether within or outside the womb is incomprehensible to me! MURDERING any one is incomprehensible! But, MURDERING your own child!?—my addition) Franke didn’t know at the time that Coppell Mayor Jayne Peters was suffering from depression and financial problems after the 2008 death of her husband from cancer (Is this suppose to be justification for the act? It just reads out of kilter to me!—my addition).”

People kill and murder other people. Guns are just an instrument—for good or for evil! It depends upon the person using the gun. If someone is intend on murdering someone, he/she will find a way! People murder people. Do not fall for the lies of the gun control extremists—from our President on down!

If elected to Congress, I will not, under any circumstances, vote for present Speaker of the House John Boehner to be Speaker of the House. I call on every Republican primary candidate running in Texas Congressional District 19 to publicly (in writing) make the same pledge. It would not be a bad idea for every Republican candidate running for the House of Representatives to give the same pledge. See my post at http://christiangunslinger3.blogspot.com on December 16, 2013 entitled “Speaker of the House John Boehner Attacks the Tea Party Again for Being Fiscally Responsible!”

Competition is good for the economy and competition is good for the Republican Party!!! Competition keeps Congressmen committed to we the people!!! Primary Republicans who do not support the Constitution as written.
