When I was in the Army (I volunteered and served willingly in the Army Combat Engineers as a demolition specialist in Korea and Vietnam), only 1% of the population was serving on active duty in the Department of Defense. Today, our Army has less than 480,000; Marines are 180,000; Navy is about 100,000; and Air Force is about 75,000. That is less than ½% of the population. 0.004 to be exact. And the idiots in Washington want to cut more, spread the personnel into other conflicts without proper equipment, supplies, and reinforcements. RGC”
I received this yesterday but didn’t open it until today. With a quick internet search, I could not find confirmation of a specific day for this. Yesterday was “brothers and sisters” day.
I have said from day one of his Administration that President Barack Hussein Obama was trying to destroy the military as we know it. He has been successful at it to the detriment of our nation. Unfortunately, that is true in other areas as well.
When I was of military age, I was under the draft at the beginning. When I graduated from college, it was switched to a draft lottery system. And finally to an all volunteer army with the requirement that all males were still required to register with the federal government.
With some exceptions, when duty called most men were willing to answer that call. My dad was draft exempt during World War II because he was married with young children. However, he voluntarily joined the navy because the nation was at risk. I wonder how many would do that today with Barack Hussein Obama’s military and with him as Commander in Chief. And it has nothing to do with his race!
May the people of the United States repent from their rebellion again GOD and HIS will. Turn to HIM and HE heal this nation!

I’ve already suggested that subsidies for the Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development are the most wasteful and counterproductive item in the federal budget. At least on a per-dollar-spent basis (No doubt also an unconstitutional expenditure if money! Much of what is spent each year is!—my addition).
But what about a similar exercise for government red tape?
How would we come up with the worst regulation or the most counterproductive regulatory agency?
Thanks to the IRS, I have a strong candidate for the worst regulation, but if I had to pick the worst agency, I’d probably choose the horribly mis-named Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (Another unconstitutional bureaucracy!—my addition).
These bureaucrats are infamous for bone-headed initiatives, such as:
The EEOC making it hard for trucking companies to weed out drunk drivers (And telling private companies how they may operate their business! Unconstitutional!—my addition).
The EEOC telling a coffee shop it had too many attractive waitresses (And telling a private company how it may operate its business! Unconstitutional!—my addition).
The EEOC forcing companies to make special accommodations for ‘urinating (Slang replaced by correct word!—my addition)-shy’ employees.
The EEOC trying to give special employment rights to crooks (And telling private companies how they may operate their business! Unconstitutional!—my addition).
We now have another item for the list.
The bureaucrats apparently like forcing companies to hire people who are more likely to rip off customers, though sometimes they find judges that aren’t nearly so tolerant (Thieves! And telling private companies how they may operate their business! Unconstitutional!—my addition).
Let’s see what the Wall Street Journal had to say about the ‘hilariously caustic rebuke of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.’
‘The EEOC had sued Kaplan, the for-profit education company, for using ‘the same type of background check that the EEOC itself uses (Seriously?—my addition),’ as Judge Raymond Kethledge cheekily put it in the first sentence of his ruling in EEOC v. Kaplan. Despite its own practices, the Obama EEOC has made a cause of suing private companies because it claims that credit and criminal background checks discriminate against minorities (That is what Attorney General Holder claims! Just following orders from on high!—my addition).’
But so-called disparate impact (What?—my addition) doesn’t mean discrimination.
‘Judge Kethledge eviscerated the EEOC like a first-day law student, writing that Kaplan had good reason to conduct credit checks … As for proving disparate racial impact, Judge Kethledge noted that ‘the credit-check process is racially blind; the [credit-check] vendor does not report the applicant’s race with her other information ( Why is everything racism with this Administration? How did Barack Hussein Obama get elected twice in such a racist nation? How did he get elected to the U.S. Senate? By the way, in the Senate race, he ran against a true Black man not one with both Caucasian and Black ancestry as he has!)—my addition).’ … The unanimous opinion was joined by Damon Keith, one of the most liberal judges on the entire federal bench. If government officials were accountable, EEOC General Counsel P. David Lopez would be fired for losing in such humiliating fashion.’
But that’s just one crazy case.
The Wall Street Journal also opined about another strange example of EEOC quackery. The bureaucrats actually believe that stealing should be a protected disability (Why not?—my addition).
Or, to be more technical, that stealing should be an acceptable behavior because of a supposed disability.
‘In September 2008, Walgreens employee Josefina Hernandez claims she had a hypoglycemia attack, grabbed a bag of potato chips off a shelf and ate them to boost her blood sugar. The drug-store company has a strict policy against ‘grazing’ (i.e., stealing) and so a supervisor fired Ms. Hernandez, an 18-year veteran of the company. Three years later, the EEOC sued Walgreens for discrimination under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1990 Americans With Disabilities Act and asked for punitive damages. … The ADA requires employees to request an accommodation for a medical condition, which Mrs. Hernandez never did. Nor does federal law sanction illegal activity—i.e., theft—under cover of a disability, as the Supreme Court made clear in 2003’s Raytheon v. Hernandez.’
A green light for thievery from the EEOC
Seems like this should be an open-and-shut case. Which raises the interesting question of why the EEOC decided that the federal government should intervene on behalf of potato chip thievery (Power and control!—my addition)..
‘So why pursue such a case in the first place? The EEOC’s lawyers probably figured they had nothing to lose. If they landed a sympathetic judge, they could set a new legal precedent. If they lost, taxpayers would pay for the case anyway. And sure enough, U.S. District Judge William Orrick, an Obama appointee, ruled against the store’s motion for summary judgment last week. The question now is whether Walgreens will continue to fight for the right to fire employees who steal from company shelves, or simply settle to get the EEOC’s lawyers to go away (This is more unconstitutional action and costs us and society! Let us hope the company fights!—my addition).’
I hope all companies fight meddling and stupidity by the federal government (Agreed! Congress needs to stop this nonsense!—my addition).
I do understand that sometimes it makes sense to acquiesce to extortion, at least in the short run. The long-run costs of surrender, though, are very high (Extremely high!—my addition).
Which is why companies should fight, but they should get support from Capitol Hill. The EEOC budget should be slashed to show that there are consequences to bureaucratic insanity (The bureau should be done away with! It is unconstitutional!—my addition).
P.S. I shared some political humor last year about a make-believe Obama Administration initiative called the ‘Americans with no Abilities Act.’

First, it was Modesto Junior College. Now it’s the University of Hawaii. What is it, exactly, that these ‘institutions of higher learning’ and others like them fear or dislike about the U.S. Constitution (They are afraid that the students might actually read the document and compare the United States to how it is in relation to how it should be according to the Constitution! The two are worlds apart! Sometime, look at your children’s government books. Do they even have the Constitution in them any more? I have seen some which do not!—my addition)?
Students Merritt Burch and Anthony Vizzone, members of the Young Americans for Liberty chapter at UH-Hilo, are suing the university for preventing them from handing out copies of the Constitution at a recruitment event in January.
Burch and Vizzone were told by the university’s administrator that their First Amendment-protected activities were in violation of school policy, and that they could only distribute ‘literature’ in the university’s ‘free-speech zone,’ a small area on the edge of campus (“Free-speech zone” at an academic learning institution? And of course, it is not the only university that has one. According to Wikipedia there are only about 3,500 undergraduates. Only about a 1,000 more than the high school I taught at in the 1970’s—my addition).
Hold the bus. Free-speech zone? In American now, we need to be in a specified zone if we wish to practice our Constitutional rights?
Administrators insist that university policy takes precedent over Constitutional rights, as articulated by Ellen Kusano, director of Student Affairs:
‘It’s not about your rights in this case; it’s about the university policy that you can’t approach people (What does “

mean?—my addition).’’
Okay, now I get it: it’s not so much that we must only practice our Constitutional rights in free-speech zone; it’s that universities in America have the right to implement policies that supersede the Constitution. No, wait- no, I don’t get it. Do you?”

Tax-preparing companies are getting paid by an Obamacare exchange to enroll people in Obamacare plans, The Daily Caller has learned.
At least 79 tax service providers, including offices of major companies like Liberty Tax Service and Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, are listed as certified Obamacare enrollment entities in the state of California, according to state exchange records (Since tax preparers are dealing with the IRS and the IRS has been trying to regulate tax preparers and the IRS has a major enforcement role in Obamacare, doesn’t this seem like a bit of a conflict of interest? Are tax preparers qualified to enroll people in the healthcare programs?—my addition).
California’s Obamacare exchange, Covered California, pays enrollment entities for signing people up for Obamacare.
‘Certified Enrollment Entities are paid a flat-fee of $58 per successful application and $25 per successful annual renewal,’ according to California Health Benefit Advisers. ‘The Enrollment Entities compensate the individual Enrollment Counselors.’
Certified Enrollment Entities in California include multiple offices of Liberty Tax Service and an Inglewood office of Jackson Hewitt Tax Service. Certified Enrollment Entities can include ‘non-profit community organizations (Like ACORN! We know how well that works out!—my addition),’ labor unions, tax preparers, community clinics and other kinds of groups.
Jackson Hewitt conducted a detailed survey sent to clients who used its tax services asking how well the company did in helping people sign up for Obamacare ahead of April 15, according to a customer who said that a Jackson Hewitt office in Florida was principally focused on Obamacare enrollment efforts during his/her visit (Seriously?—my addition).
‘Jackson Hewitt is conducting a national study among recent clients asking for their opinions regarding the service they received,’ according to information sent to customers by the marketing and research firm Smari and obtained by TheDC. ‘Your confidential answers will help Jackson Hewitt provide exceptional service to their customers. To ensure that results remain confidential, Jackson Hewitt has asked SMARI, a national research firm, to conduct the survey on their behalf.’
‘For fully completing the survey you will be entered into a drawing to win one of 10 cash prizes worth $50 each (Wow! Such an inducement! Fast food workers need a raise, we are told. They need a living wage, we are told. Calling the minimum wage a ‘job killer’ is simplistic, we are assured. McDonald’s is mistreating workers by not paying them more (Who decides the wages of employees? The employer? The government? The general public? The owner is the one who knows the worth of the employee and the value provided in comparison to the costs involved! NO government can make that determination! NO government in a free society should have any say in the matter! It is NOT the government’s business!—my addition).
So now Barack Obama has produced new evidence (What evidence?—my addition). He raised the wages of fast-food workers. You probably didn’t know he could do such a thing (Whether or not he has legal authority does not stop him from doing things! He is lawless!—my addition). But it turns out that some government contractors are fast food workers.
From CNBC: ‘Wage hike might mean fewer fast food joints on bases.’
Hundreds of fast-food joints on U.S. military bases may close starting next year, but not because of any push for healthier dining options.
New regulations requiring increased wages and benefits for federal contract workers on military bases could result in job losses and fewer food choices for service members and their families, according to 40 lawmakers in Washington who signed a letter last week calling on the Labor Department to exempt some military exchanges, which include on-base fast food establishments, from the new rules. (How about doing away with the rules in the first place? Did Congress really give the President the legal authority to raise wages without any oversight?—my addition).

The compensation boost for workers would come from two sources. One is an update to the Service Contract Act’s health and welfare rate, which requires that most federal contract workers receive wages and benefits similar to those prevailing in the locality.
That means significant raises for federal contract workers on bases in states such as Washington, which has the highest minimum wage, at $9.32 an hour. (Really? Letting State law override federal law? I thought that was against the Constitution. That is what the court said about Arizona’s immigration law EVEN though IT mirrored federal law! That was still not good enough! No matter that the federal law was not and is not being enforced!—my addition)
The other source is an across-the-board increase in the minimum wage for federal contract workers starting in 2015. That stems from an executive order signed by President Obama in February that will boost the hourly pay rate to $10.10 for all new and renewed contracts. The rate will be adjusted annually to keep pace with inflation. (Is the executive order legal? Did Congress give him this authority by law? An executive order is NOT the creation of law! At least not according to the Constitution!—my addition)
So there you have it. Wages were raised and now businesses are closing. This is exactly what non-delusional economists have been predicting will happen (There are only four things a business can do when costs increase—lower costs elsewhere, increase prices, decrease profit, or a combination of the three! That is it! They can not print money to cover the increased costs! And if they are losing money they may lower costs by shutting down the business!—my addition).
Will this stop liberals from agitating for a higher minimum wage? I doubt it (Of course it will not! They do not care if they hurt the low wage earner or the business! It is all just collateral damage! The ends justifies the means in their corrupt world!—my addition). Just like Obama promised with Obamacare, they all insist that, if you like your job, you can keep your job.”
The Obama Administration has demonstrated conclusively that they are not competent to run healthcare (nor should the federal government—competent or not), run foreign policy, run the bureaucracy legally, or run much of anything else. Why in the world are we the people letting him determine the wages of employees for businesses around the nation? Have we gone completely insane as a nation?

The above headline says it all. Some tough guy, at least I am sure he thinks he is, had MURDER tattooed around his neck. Now, he is being tried for murder and he is concerned the jury might get the wrong idea about him! You think? Or more probable, the jury will get the right idea about him! He wants the tattoo removed or, at least, covered up.
The story does not say who is paying for any possible removal. However, I am absolutely opposed to the State paying for it. The State did not force him to get a tattoo or to use murder as his tattoo. The State is not responsible for his ignorance. As far as I’m concerned, the jury has every right to see him how he looked at the time of the accused murder! There is nothing unfair about that. In fact, if there is any unfairness, it is to the victim! Why should the victim be penalized for the obvious stupidity of the accused?
What if there was a video of the murder? Would the video be disallowed because he had murder tattooed on his neck? Would he be allowed to have the tattoo removed? To cover it up? The Constitution does not guarantee anyone the right to behave stupidly!

After Breitbart Texas reported on the U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) intent to seize 90,000 acres belonging to Texas landholders along the Texas/Oklahoma line,
Texas [Attorney] General Greg Abbott questioned the BLM’s authority to take such action (It has NONE! Another federal bureaucracy gone wild!—my addition).
‘I am about ready,’ [Attorney] General Abbott told Breitbart Texas, ‘to go to the Red River and raise a ‘Come and Take It’ flag to tell the feds to stay out of Texas (Why hasn’t he done it already! No federal government agency has any authority over Texas land except for the land they have purchased within Texas! For almost all of the west, the federal government owned the land until the territory was allowed to become a State. Not true for Texas! Texas was an independent, totally sovereign State before becoming a part of the United States! It was never a U.S. territory!—my addition).’
[Attorney] General Abbott sent a strongly-worded letter to BLM Director Neil Kornze, asking for answers to a series of questions related to the potential land grab (Land theft!—my addition).
‘I am deeply concerned about the notion that the Bureau of Land Management believes the federal government has the authority to swoop in and take land that has been owned and cultivated by Texas landowners for generations (They do not!—my addition),’ [Attorney] General Abbott wrote. ‘The BLM’s newly asserted claims to land along the Red River threaten to upset long-settled private property rights and undermine fundamental principles—including the rule of law—that form the foundation of our democracy. Yet, the BLM has failed to disclose either its full intentions or the legal justification for its proposed actions. Decisions of this magnitude must not be made inside a bureaucratic black box.’
In an exclusive interview with Breitbart Texas, [Attorney] General Abbott said, ‘This is the latest line of attack by the Obama Administration where it seems like they have a complete disregard for the rule of law in this country ... And now they’ve crossed the line quite literally by coming into the State of Texas and trying to claim Texas land as federal land. And, as the Attorney General of Texas I am not going to allow this (I should hope!—my addition).’
Abbott challenged the BLM director directly stating in his letter, ‘Nearly a century ago, the U.S. Supreme Court determined that the gradient line of the south bank of the Red River—subject to the doctrines of accretion and avulsion—was the boundary between Texas and Oklahoma. Oklahoma v. Texas, 260 U.S. 606 (1923). More recently, in 1994, the BLM stated that the Red River area was ‘[a] unique situation’ and stated that ‘[t]he area itself cannot be defined until action by the U.S. Congress establishes the permanent state boundary between Oklahoma and Texas.’ Further, the BLM determined that one possible scenario was legislation that established the ‘south geologic cut bank as the boundary,’ which could have resulted ‘in up to 90,000 acres’ of newly delineated federal land. But no such legislation was ever enacted.’
As to what kind of standoff might Texas might be facing with the BLM on this matter, Abbott said, ‘I think that we should be able to resolve this from a legal standpoint because, I believe, what the BLM is doing clearly violates the law. They don’t have any legal standing whatsoever to do this (Of course not!—my addition) and that’s why I have issued this letter today.’
In the letter, Attorney General Abbott details five issues for the BLM to address:
‘Please delineate with specificity each of the steps for the RMP/EIS process for property along the Red River.
Please describe the procedural due process the BLM will afford to Texans whose property may be claimed by the federal government.
Please confirm whether the BLM agrees that, from 1923 until the ratification of the Red River Boundary Compact, the boundary between Texas and Oklahoma was the gradient line of the south bank of the Red River. To the extent the BLM does not agree, please provide legal analysis supporting the BLM’s position.
Please confirm whether the BLM still considers Congress’ ratification of the Red River Boundary Compact as determinative of its interest in land along the Red River? To the extent the BLM does not agree, please provide legal analysis supporting the BLM’s new position.
Please delineate with specificity the amount of Texas territory that would be impacted by the BLM’s decision to claim this private land as the property of the federal government.
‘The letter today,’ Abbott explained, ‘is the first shot in the legal process. We expect answers from them (Why would they answer? The federal government is at war with Texas!—my addition) and based upon their answers we will decide what legal action to take.’
‘What Barack Obama’s BLM is doing,’ Abbott continued, ‘is so out of bounds and so offensive that we should have quick and successful legal action if they dare attempt to tread on Texas land and take it from private property owners in this state (Typical of this out-of-control Administration! And The House of Representatives does NOTHING about it!—my addition).’
As to the timeline of how this matter moves forward Abbott explained that it is hard to tell how quickly or slowly the BLM might move on this matter. ‘One of the problems is, we can’t tell what they’re doing other than trying to operate in very suspicious ways. We want to make sure they are going to be open and transparent about what they are doing and that constitutional due process rights are going to be protected (Good luck with that!—my addition).’
Abbott told Breitbart Texas he wants to make sure the BLM understands that what they appear to be attempting to do is completely illegal. ‘This is Texas land. It belongs to Texas and the private property owners here,’ Abbott firmly stated. ‘If we have to, we will assert quick and effective legal action to put a stop to it.’
Abbott said the next step now is for the BLM to respond to his letter and the five points detailed above. ‘The way these things work is,’ Abbott explained, ‘what they say in response will lead to more questions. I anticipate another round of questions will follow in response to their answers.’
At that point, Abbott said it should be clear that either Texas will be taking legal action to stop them or the BLM will be backing off because they have no legal basis to support ‘their wrongful attempt to take Texas land (The law does not stop them!—my addition).’
The BLM currently maintains roughly 40,000 acres of land in Collin County around Lake Lavon (Why does the Bureau maintain it? Is it owned by the federal government?—my addition). When asked about this land, Abbott responded, ‘We’re looking at anything and everything BLM either has or is considering doing across the State of Texas. Anytime we see land grabs like this by federal authorities, it raises red flags that cause us to look into the full extent of their operations.’
Abbott said this issue comes down to a fundamental principle and that is, ‘private property rights and the rule of law are the foundation of democracy. Repeatedly we see the Obama Administration erode that foundation of democracy. As Attorney General, I will be restoring that bedrock foundation by restoring and protecting private property rights and the rule of law in Texas.’
Abbott summarized his position thusly, ‘If I have to, I will make this our 31st lawsuit against the Obama Administration.’
