Marihuana Use Is the Cause of How Many Fatal Automobile Accidents a Year?
According to Politics1, there are nine Republicans running for the open Senate seat in Georgia including three current Congressmen. I was going to sit this primary out and let the voters of Georgia decide their candidate. I am not going to officially give support to any one candidate. That being said, Congressman Paul Broun is the only candidate that routinely sends me e-mails. His website is http://www.paulbroun.com/ From what I can tell, he is a true conservative. I received an e-mail from his campaign yesterday that linked this great campaign ad! I had to share it!

“Drugged Driving: Study Finds That Fatal Car Crashes Involving Marijuana Use Have Tripled

There are consequences of the increased prevalence of marijuana use in society—one of which is undoubtedly drugged driving. According to a new study from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, fatal car accidents that involved marijuana have tripled in the last decade, which suggests that the issue will likely become worse as more states push for the legalization of marijuana (One would think so unless one is so naïve to think that legalizing marihuana will decrease its use!—my addition).
‘Currently, one of nine drivers (11%—my addition) involved in fatal crashes would test positive for marijuana,’ co-author Dr. Guohua Li, director of the Center for Injury Epidemiology and Prevention at Columbia, told HealthDay News. ‘If this trend continues, in five or six years non-alcohol drugs will overtake alcohol to become the most common substance involved in deaths related to impaired driving (And if more States legalize its use, it will probably be sooner than that! Decisions have consequences!—my addition).’
‘The research team drew its conclusions from crash statistics from six states that routinely perform toxicology tests on drivers involved in fatal car wrecks—California, Hawaii, Illinois, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and West Virginia. The statistics included more than 23,500 drivers who died within one hour of a crash between 1999 and 2010.
Alcohol contributed to about the same percentage of traffic fatalities throughout the decade, about 40 percent, Li said.
But drugs played an increasingly prevalent role in fatal crashes, the researchers found.
Drugged driving accounted for more than 28 percent of traffic deaths in 2010, up from more than 16 percent in 1999 .
Marijuana proved to be the main drug involved in the increase, contributing to 12 percent of 2010 crashes compared with 4 percent in 1999.’
An even deadlier combination is the mixture of alcohol and marijuana. ‘If a driver is under the influence of alcohol, their risk of a fatal crash is 13 times higher than the risk of the driver who is not under the influence of alcohol,’ Li told HealthDaily News. ‘But if the driver is under the influence of both alcohol and marijuana, their risk increases to 24 times that of a sober person (Almost a doubling! What will be the figures if marihuana becomes legal? Legalization WILL have consequences!—my addition).’
Similar to alcohol, marijuana affects a driver’s judgment, vision, and makes a person more distractible, Deputy Executive Director of the Governors Highway Safety Association Jonathan Adkins explained to HealthDaily.
And groups like Mothers Against Drunk Driving are concerned because drugged driving is completely preventable. ‘When it comes to drugged driving versus drunk driving, the substances may be different but the consequences are the same—needless deaths and injuries,’ Jan Withers, national president of MADD, told HealthDaily.
‘The public knows about drunk driving, but I don’t think they have awareness of drugged driving, so this is a huge issue (I know they are NOT aware! Either that, or they do not care!—my addition),’ Adkins said. ‘We need to alert the public that if you’ve used any type of substance, you should not get behind the wheel. We need to create that culture where, like drunk driving, it is not acceptable (Good luck!—my addition).’
There are reasons why marihuana has been illegal of years! Before opening up another Pandora’s Box, government officials and we the people had better be very circumspect! Beware what you wish for, beware, what you hope for. Examine the consequences! Before any advocate for the legalization of marihuana convinces you to support change, ask them why it is now illegal! If they can not accurately and honestly answer, they are not a valid advocate for change!

This is my two part suggestion to Tea Party groups, social conservatives, Constitutionalists, and anyone else who wants to save our Republic from the approaching destruction.
1) Run as many conservative candidates in as many Republican primaries as possible.
2) Then, run as many independent and/or third party candidates as possible in as many races as possible where we did not win the primary.
That is why I am working to get the Constitution Party on the ballot in Texas. If we get on the ballot, we will have two Congressional House candidates running and two State candidates running. Getting on the ballot is the first step. Winning elections is the second. Winning elections will grow the Party. The Constitution Party is much more in line with the Tea Party movement than is the Republican Party. And I have been involved with all three!

If elected to Congress, I will not, under any circumstances, vote for present Speaker of the House John Boehner to be Speaker of the House. I call on every Republican primary candidate running in Texas Congressional District 19 to publicly (in writing) make the same pledge. It would not be a bad idea for every Republican candidate running for the House of Representatives to give the same pledge. See my post at http://christiangunslinger3.blogspot.com on December 16, 2013 entitled “Speaker of the House John Boehner Attacks the Tea Party Again for Being Fiscally Responsible!”

If I am elected to the House, I will use the Constitution, as written, to do everything in my power to stop judicial tyranny! Will the other candidates pledge the same? I know our present Representative has NOT done everything possible to stop judicial tyranny! Why is that?

If elected to Congress, I pledge that I will do everything within my authority as a member of the House of Representatives to begin and complete impeachment proceedings against the President of the United States for violating the Constitution, the laws of the United States as passed by Congress, and his oath of office. I call on every Republican primary candidate running in Texas Congressional District 19 to publicly (in writing) make the same pledge. It would not be a bad idea for every Republican candidate running for the House of Representatives to give the same pledge.

Competition is good for the economy and competition is good for the Republican Party!!! Competition keeps Congressmen committed to we the people!!! Primary Republicans who do not support the Constitution as written.
