Shut Down! Who Is Responsible for the Federal Government Shut Down?

Update: Heard on the 7PM ABC radio news the other day that according to a just released poll about 50% of those polled disapprove of how President Obama is handling the shut down. About 60% disapprove of Democrats handling and about 70% of the Republicans handling. Of course, they never give the questions asked so it is impossible to knew if the questions were slanted. Plus, I don’t trust anything that comes from the mainstream media when it come to polls or anything else for that matter.

That said, I’ve been hearing about the poll all day. The 7PM report was the first time they also said that “even conservative Republicans disapproved of the Republicans handling of it by a 59% margin.” And I immediately said, of course! And that is why the Republican figure is higher than the other two. As a conservative Republican, I do not like President Obama’s handling of it and of the Democrats handling of it. I also do not like the Republicans handling of it but for a very different reason. I don’t think they should have compromised down from defunding to delaying. Now, I’ll take delaying over funding. But, we should have stayed with defunding throughout. And that friends is why the Republican number is so high. Democrats don’t like the Republican position because they want funding. And conservative Republicans don’t like the Republican position because we want DEFUNDING! That said, I urge ALL Republicans to stand firm on delaying! Those who do not will be primaried!!! Competition is good for the economy and competition is good for the Republican Party!!! Competition keeps Congressmen committed to we the people!!!

Yesterday during remarks to reporters, President Obama said no party has a monopoly on good ideas and demanded the House of Representatives reopen the government. He also reiterated his stance that he will not negotiate over the budget or the debt ceiling and told Congress to ‘do its job’ to fund the government (Which the House of Representatives has been doing! The Senate refuses to act on the bills sent by the House! The President, as normal, LIES and DISTORTS the TRUTH!—my addition).

But the fact is, the House of Representatives has already passed more than a dozen pieces of legislation funding the government. Here is a list courtesy of Speaker John Boehner's office:

SEPTEMBER 20, 2013

Continuing resolution (H.J. Res. 59): keeps the government running at current spending levels and strengthens our economy by defunding the president’ health care law. (Passed in the House 230-189)

SEPTEMBER 28, 2013

Continuing resolution (H.J. Res. 59): keeps the government running at current spending levels and strengthens our economy by delaying the president’s health care law by one year, and permanently repealing ObamaCare’s tax on pacemakers and children’s hearing aids. OCTOBER 4, 2013

National Emergency and Disaster Recovery Act (H.J. Res 85): provides immediate funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). (Passed in the House 247-164)

Nutrition Assistance for Low-Income Women and Children Act (H.J. Res. 75): provides immediate funding for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, which ‘serves nearly 9 million mothers and young children,’ and provides ‘vital nutrition that poor families might otherwise be unable to afford.’ (Passed in the House 244-164)

Federal Employee Retroactive Pay Fairness Act (H.R. 3223): provides for compensation of federal employees furloughed due to Senate Democrats’ government shutdown (Note the culprits in this! The Senate Democrats and the President who is encouraging the Senate Democrats!—my addition). This is similar to bipartisan legislation enacted during previous shutdowns. (Passed in the House 407-0)

OCTOBER 7, 2013

Food and Drug Safety Act (H.J.Res. 77): provides immediate funding for the Food and Drug Administration. (Passed in the House 235-162)

OCTOBER 8, 2013

Head Start for Low-Income Children Act (H.J.Res. 84): provides critical education funding to support Head Start programs across the country. (Passed in the House 248-168)

Deficit Reduction and Economic Growth Working Group Act (H.R. 3273): creates a bipartisan, bicameral working group charged with beginning negotiations, resolving the differences between the House and Senate, and helping re-open the government and address our debt. (Passed in the House 224-197)

Federal Worker Pay Fairness Act (H.J. Res. 89): ensures that federal employees who are still on the job during Democrats’ shutdown are paid on time. (Passed in the House 420-0)

The only piece of legislation the Senate took up and that Obama signed is the Pay Our Military Act, everything else has been rejected.”

Petition to the President concerning the World War II Memorial

The Obama Administration is spending money to block access to the World War II Memorial, using veterans as pawns as he works to save the abortion-pill mandate.

The World War II Memorial is open-air and open 24 hours a day, but the Obama Administration brought in forklifts, barricades, and security to shut it down.

President Obama would rather block World War II vets from their memorial than delay his individual mandate for even one year or give up on his abortion-pill mandate.
