Mitch McConnell & John Boehner, Senate & House Republicans, Obamacare, Kentucky Basketball, Republicans Will not Surrender?
Update: Heard on the 7PM ABC radio news that according to a just released poll about 50% of those polled disapprove of how President Obama is handling the shut down. About 60% disapprove of Democrats handling and about 70% of the Republicans handling. Of course, they never give the questions asked so it is impossible to knew if the questions were slanted. Plus, I don’t trust anything that comes from the mainstream media when it come to polls or anything else for that matter.
That said, I’ve been hearing about the poll all day. The 7PM report was the first time they also said that “even conservative Republicans disapproved of the Republicans handling of it by a 59% margin.” And I immediately said, of course! And that is why the Republican figure is higher than the other two. As a conservative Republican, I do not like President Obama’s handling of it and of the Democrats handling of it. I also do not like the Republicans handling of it but for a very different reason. I don’t think they should have compromised down from defunding to delaying. Now, I’ll take delaying over funding. But, we should have stayed with defunding throughout. And that friends is why the Republican number is so high. Democrats don’t like the Republican position because they want funding. And conservative Republicans don’t like the Republican position because we want DEFUNDING! That said, I urge ALL Republicans to stand firm on delaying! Those who do not will be primaried!!! Competition is good for the economy and competition is good for the Republican Party!!! Competition keeps Congressmen committed to we the people!!!

I grew up in Illinois. After graduating from college, I taught at St. Charles high school a far western suburb of Chicago. I spent some evenings watching University of Indiana basketball since basket in Illinois was not nearly as good. After moving to Tucson, Arizona, it was basketball under Lute Olsen at the University of Arizona.
The year before Lute was hired, Arizona won only four games and only one game in the PAC 10 Conference. Four years later, Arizona played in its first Final 4 losing to Oklahoma. For about a decade, the U of A was a basketball powerhouse without ever winning a national championship.
In the 1996-1997 season, Arizona finished 5th in the PAC 10 and received a 4th seed in the NCAA tournament without a senior starter and winning a total of 5 straight games only once. They won their first two games as expected against the 13th and 12th seeded teams in their regional. Their third game was against the 1st seeded Kansas Jayhawks. They won by three points. They then defeated 10th seeded Providence in overtime by 4 points. Next, another 1st seeded team—North Carolina. They won their 5th straight game by 8 points which was their largest margin of victory in the tournament.
This was only the second time all season where they had won five games in a row and never more than five. Their sixth and championship game was against their third 1st seeded team of the tournament—the University of Kentucky Wildcats, the previous year’s champion. The “impossible” run ended with a crushing loss to the Wildcats! It was the Arizona Wildcats who crushed the Kentucky Wildcats by 5 points in overtime!
Ok. So what is the point? Who cares?
History is important. It contains life’s lessons. I’m told that everyone in Kentucky knows Kentucky Wildcat basketball. Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senator from Kentucky, is the Minority Leader in the Senate.
The Arizona Wildcats should have never been in, let alone won, the NCAA championship game in 1997. Look at the odds!
1) They finished fifth in the PAC 10.
2) They had not won more than five games in a row all year and yet had to win six in a row to win the national championship.
3) They played and had to defeat three number one seeds something that had never been done before in a 64 team tournament and has not been done since.
4) They had to defeat the previous year’s national champion.
5) They had to win two overtime games.
6) They had no senior starters.
7) They had never won a national championship before or since.
It was a “miracle” year. Why did they win? Lute Olsen said after the championship game, “They never give up!” That is, they never surrender!
Lessons for the Republican Party:
1) Seek success!
2) You can not do what you do not try!
3) Never give up; never surrender!
4) Expect to be successful!
5) Work as a team!
6) Do what is right not what is expedient!
7) Let setbacks, which happen to everyone, make you stronger!
And finally, YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE by we the people and by GOD!

Petition to the President concerning the World War II Memorial
From: http://aclj.org/american-heritage/obama-blocks-wwii-heroes-from-memorial
The Obama Administration is spending money to block access to the World War II Memorial, using veterans as pawns as he works to save the abortion-pill mandate.
The World War II Memorial is open-air and open 24 hours a day, but the Obama Administration brought in forklifts, barricades, and security to shut it down.
President Obama would rather block World War II vets from their memorial than delay his individual mandate for even one year or give up on his abortion-pill mandate.
The ACLJ has sent a team to the Memorial site, and we’re fighting back. Sign our petition:
Mr. President, Honor Our Veterans. Open Our Nation’s War Memorials.
To President Obama:
Don’t play partisan politics with American heroes. Honor the men and women who sacrificed for our freedom. Apologize to our veterans, and stop spending money to close American war memorials.
