The Export-Import Bank interferes with the economy by providing billions of dollars in loans to politically-connected companies overseas. Even worse, these loans are paid for by your hard-earned tax dollars (Government should NOT be in the loan business! Particularly the federal government since it has NO money to loan!—my addition).
This [is] exactly the kind of government meddling in the economy that free-market advocates should reject (Yes, it is! Along with a whole huge list of other government spending! Let’s take down one small portion of unneeded spending since we have the opportunity to. Heritage Foundation is also opposed to this program!—my addition)!
The future of the Export-Import Bank—and whether or not part of your paycheck is going to prop up companies overseas—sits with Congress. Your lawmakers have a choice: they can either let the Export-Import Bank expire in September as scheduled and put an end to this out-of-control corporate welfare, or they can reauthorize the bank and continue sending your hard-earned tax dollars overseas (Since this program expires unless renewed by Congress, we can end it by pressuring one House of Congress not to renew! For all practical purposes that is the House of Representatives. Although, it would be a bonus to convince Senate Republicans to prevent cloture!—my addition).
