How much was Chelsea Clinton making per year during her time at NBC? $600,000 a year. What is the median salary (statistics middle in set of ordered values: the middle value in a set of statistical values that are arranged in ascending or descending order. Encarta ® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1998-2005 Microsoft Corporation—my addition) for a journalist working in the U.S.? According to the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics—my addition), it is $37,090 a year. In other words, Clinton, despite lacking substantial professional experience as a journalist (Did she have any?—my addition), gained an extremely lucrative salary (Yes! If she “works” 5 days a week for 50 weeks that would be 250 days at $2,400 a day or, for an eight hour day, $300 per hour! That’s higher than most lawyers make per hour!—my addition) at one of the nation’s most famous journalism outlets.
In fact, Barack Obama was making $400,000 a year as President, while Clinton was making $600,000 a year as a new journalist.
Clinton had worked as an analyst at a New York hedge fund before, but then switched over to working at NBC. Now she is on a month-to-month contract with NBC instead of the $600,00 a year. Why? According to Politico, it is because NBC wanted to able to sever ties if Hillary Clinton ran as President. Chelsea has also been working at the Clinton Foundation, which is now her primary job (How much do you think she is being paid by her parent’s Foundation?—my addition).
Many in the media criticized NBC for choosing her to work the job with no prior professional journalism experience—this was before it was known that she would raking in cash to the tune of $600,000 a year (Do you think it is a pay-off?—my addition).
So what do you think? How much should Chelsea Clinton have been paid to be a journalist at NBC (About $50? When I was on the school board, one of our board members wanted to pay our former Superintendent, who had just been demoted to an Assistant Superintendent, $1 a year. And he argued that he was being overpaid at $1! What real value did she add to the organization? Given the ratings for NBC, I would guess not much! But hey, that is the choice of NBC! I do not watch it and I wouldn’t watch it with Chelsea Clinton on it 24 hours a day!—my addition) ? Or would she never have been hired at all if it wasn’t for her well-connected parents (Is there ANY question about this?—my addition)?
