A Website that Evaluates Companies and Products Based upon Christian Values

“God created human government. It is, therefore, inconceivable that God would create government and then tell His people to stay out of it.” ~ Pastor Adrian Rogers

“Check the radar for Christian values before Christmas shopping
Charlie Butts (OneNewsNow.com)
November 25, 2014

A new website recommends Christians do their homework before shopping for the upcoming Christmas season (Or any other time! Why spend your money at places that do not support your values?my addition).

ScreenItCleanIt.com is designed to help Christians do business and remain steadfast in their faith. Steve Ensley, president of American Family Online, explains how it works.

‘For example, someone may be going out shopping on Black Friday and looking for a new refrigerator,’ he says. ‘A person can use it Screen It Clean It to take a look at the different brands and manufacturers and organizations before they buy and see if a company supports their values or works against their values.’

Businesses that support something like homosexual activism or abortion businesses will be listed. But Ensley clarifies that it’s not a boycott list.

‘We don’t even draw any conclusions,’ he explains. ‘We let folks do that themselves. Basically what we do is based on public records, and that would be records from the Securities and Exchange Commission ... and from companies’ websites. We do scoring on different types of things. So, for example, if an organization supports or donates to Planned Parenthood, that’s a matter of public record.’

The companies are scored based on 16 criteria to help people make their buying decisions. The service is free.

Examples I used:

VIOLATION DEFINITIONS

Home Depot

12% = Abortion:

The abortion research seeks to protect the life of the unborn. This screen identifies companies engaged in the manufacturing (and in some cases the distribution) of birth control methods preventing implantation of fertilized eggs, elective abortive procedures, insurance coverage, philanthropy, and biotechnology, including human cloning and fetal tissue research.

12% = Entertainment:

The entertainment research seeks to preserve family values in the world around us. This screen identifies companies engaged in the promotion of violence, language, sex and drugs through advertisements, film, television, radio, games, establishments, retail stores, publications, and Internet.

25% = Lifestyle:

The lifestyle research seeks to embrace the sanctity of marriage. This screen identifies companies engaged in the promotion of lifestyles contrary to biblical beliefs, while seeking to treat all persons with dignity and non-discrimination as to benefits that are granted to any employees.

The only problem I had was that I put in some rather common companies and did not get a response. It may be limited. I may not have used the correct name.

It may be worth a try.
